Your Excellency,
On behalf of the Rohingya Community in Norway (RCN), we extend our deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to Your Excellency, the Government of Bangladesh, and the people of Bangladesh for your unwavering humanitarian support and your continued commitment to resolving the Rohingya crisis.
We highly commend the Government's decision to establish the National Strategy Formulation Committee on Rohingya Affairs under your leadership. This important initiative reflects Bangladesh's determination to pursue a coordinated and sustainable strategy for the safe, voluntary, dignified, and lasting repatriation of the Rohingya people to our homeland in Myanmar.
For nearly a decade, Bangladesh has shouldered an enormous humanitarian responsibility by providing protection and refuge to more than one million Rohingya refugees fleeing genocide, persecution, and crimes against humanity in Myanmar. The generosity, compassion, and solidarity shown by the Government and the people of Bangladesh have saved countless lives and will always be remembered with profound gratitude by the Rohingya people.
The Rohingya crisis is entirely a man-made tragedy caused by decades of systematic discrimination, persecution, and violence. The Myanmar military and the Arakan Army bear responsibility for the suffering and displacement of hundreds of thousands of innocent Rohingya civilians. A durable solution can only be achieved through the safe return of the Rohingya to Myanmar with full citizenship, equal rights, security, freedom of movement, justice, and international guarantees.
We hope that the newly established National Committee will strengthen Bangladesh's diplomatic engagement with the international community and accelerate efforts to create the necessary conditions for the voluntary, safe, and sustainable return of the Rohingya people to their ancestral homeland.
The Rohingya Community in Norway stands in solidarity with Bangladesh and remains committed to supporting all peaceful and constructive efforts aimed at achieving justice, accountability, and a lasting solution to one of the world's longest-running refugee crises.
Once again, we express our heartfelt appreciation to Your Excellency and to the people of Bangladesh for your extraordinary generosity, leadership, and steadfast support for the Rohingya people.
