The history of RCN
Rohingya Community in Norway was formed in Kristiansand after extensive consultation among Rohingya residents in Norway. A three-day meeting at the home of Abdus Salam Chaliss, also known as U Hla Maung, laid the foundation for the organisation. Sayed Hussein was elected as its first chairperson. Later leaders developed relations with authorities, integration work, cultural preservation and international advocacy.
Our work in Norway
RCN seeks to serve as a bridge between the Rohingya community and Norwegian society. It promotes education, employment, civic participation and social inclusion while enabling Rohingya to preserve their language, culture, traditions, history and identity.
International and humanitarian work
RCN works with organisations and authorities to advance Rohingya rights, accountability and durable solutions. It has also raised and delivered humanitarian support to vulnerable Rohingya families and refugees.
